File Storage Estimate
The best way to estimate your file storage needs is to organize all files to be uploaded to TitleLeaf in a single directory. Then, depending on your operating system, determine the size of that directory.
Alternatively, you can roughly estimate your needs (in GB) with the following equation:
x * ( y * 20 MB/ebook + z * 2 MB/title ) * 1 GB / 1000 MB
Where,
x= Number of titlesy= Number of ebooks per titlez= Number of images per title
Assumptions:
- Average ebook file size is 20 MB
- Average image file size is 2 MB
Example 1: 1 image, 1 ebook per title
Given, 700 titles each with 1 cover image and 1 PDF ebook, the estimated file storage would be 15.4 GB.
700 * ( 1 * 20 MB + 1 * 2 MB ) * 1 GB / 1000 MB = 15.4 GB
Note:
x= 700 titlesy= 1 ebook per title (ie, a PDF)z= 1 image per title (ie, a cover)
Example 2: 2 images, 2 ebooks per title
Given, 700 titles each with 1 cover image, 1 spread image, 1 PDF ebook, and 1 ePub ebook, the estimated file storage would be 30.8 GB.
700 * ( 2 * 20 MB + 2 * 2 MB ) * 1 GB / 1000 MB = 30.8 GB
Note:
x = 700 titlesy = 2 ebooks per title (ie, a PDF and an ePub)z = 2 images per title (ie, a cover and a spread)
